I've never seen a fly like this before and thought it was really freaky looking! Members of the Conopidae family are endoparasites of bees, and Sicus ferrugineus is an endoparasite of a number of Bumble Bee species. They lay their eggs on the bees and the larvae eat their way into the abdomen of the bee. These flies themselves feed on nectar and pollen.
