Photo: I'm hoping this mounting arrangement will be strong enough without additional wood being added..  Had tape underneath the holes for the initial drill and fill for the two mounting holes for the sleeved oar lock sockets.  Kept poking the epoxy in the two thru holes for the mounting screws and bubbles kept coming out so I just let the epoxy settle in and will do a second fill of the holes next day.  The main center hole will not be filled and drilled, but instead I will wipe unthickened epoxy in the hole with a gloved finger multiple times to build up some epoxy in the hole until the socket is a snug fit.
